How to add a guest wishlist to Shopify with Keeps
Let shoppers save product favorites without an account. Set up Keeps, check the same-browser wishlist and test the return-to-cart flow before publishing.
Choose where saving a favorite helps
A wishlist gives a shopper a way to return to a product they are still considering. Start with selected products that people compare or plan to buy later. Saving a product does not reserve stock, freeze its price or create an order.
Keeps stores the visible list in the shopper’s current browser. No email address is needed, and there is no account sync, cross-device list or email reminder. Explain that scope wherever you describe the feature.
Create a campaign and add the product block
Install Keeps from the Shopify App Store and open it in Shopify admin. In Campaigns, choose the product variant, set the save-button text and activate the campaign. In Appearance, enable Show on storefront and save.
Start with a duplicate Online Store 2.0 theme in a USD store. Add the Keeps app block to the configured product’s template, near the product information. Save the theme and open its preview on that product and variant.
Test the entire save-and-return path
Save a product, open the wishlist, revisit its product link and return in the same browser. Check the saved item’s Add to cart and Remove controls. Confirm the cart contains the intended variant and current price. Test on mobile as well as desktop.
Try another browser and verify that the first list is not presented there. Clearing browser storage removes favorites; blocked storage prevents saving. The widget displays the inactivity period for saved items. Each list supports up to 100 items, including on Growth.
Understand the Free allowance
Free includes 100 new tracked saves per calendar month. A shopper saving again after removal can create another tracked save. Repeatedly viewing a list is not a completed purchase. Existing saved items can still be removed or added to the cart after the new-save allowance is reached.
Growth is $5 USD every 30 days and removes the monthly tracked-save limit. Both plans allow up to 100 non-archived campaigns and have no percentage or per-order app fee. Review Shopify’s terms before approving a plan change.
Measure completed purchases separately
After the preview works, publish the intended theme and recheck the actual product page. Monitor saved-item activity and paid purchases attributed to the wishlist’s explicit Add to cart action. Saves alone are not revenue.
Compare completed orders, refunds and support questions over time. Attribution shows a recorded path to a purchase; it does not prove every attributed purchase was additional revenue. Keep your campaign choices and storefront explanation aligned with the feature shoppers actually use.
