Product add-ons, bundles or quantity discounts: which fits your store?
Compare three different Shopify promotion jobs and choose a relevant offer without stacking confusing discounts or changing the wrong checkout flow.
Recommend a different product with an add-on
Use an add-on when one product makes a second product more useful: a case for a device, for example. The relationship matters more than the size of the discount.
Nudge lets you choose the primary variant and a recommended variant, with an optional saving on one recommended item. It works near the product purchase button or in the cart. It does not automatically discover recommendations.
Present a specific pair with a bundle
A bundle is useful when you want shoppers to review two complementary items together. Be clear about each product, quantity and saving before the shopper proceeds.
Duet creates a separate checkout for two configured variants. It does not merge an existing cart. If keeping every item in the current cart is essential to your flow, review that limitation before choosing it.
Reward more of the same variant with a quantity saving
A quantity promotion makes sense for repeat-use or shareable products. Calculate the margin at the qualifying quantity and check that the promotion does not encourage orders you cannot fulfill profitably.
Ladder supports one qualifying quantity and saving per campaign for a selected variant. It is not a multi-tier quantity-break builder. Shopify checks the discount conditions at checkout.
Start with one offer and test the full order
Avoid turning on several overlapping offers at once. On a duplicate theme, check quantities, removal of the qualifying product and interaction with existing discount codes. Make sure the final checkout matches the promise.
Nudge, Duet and Ladder each have a Free plan and a $9 USD per 30 days Growth plan with no usage fee. All three are submitted for Shopify review; see their individual pages for allowances and availability. Compare completed order margin and support burden, not just offer clicks.
